Autodesk Animation Academy 2011

Autodesk® Animation Academy 2011 helps encourage secondary students to explore their creativity and discover the concepts of 3D animation in an engaging and interactive way.

Benefits
Animation Academy includes everything educators need to introduce 3ds Max or Maya animation technology that captivates students while exposing them to a variety of academic subjects. The innovative, project-focused curriculum encourages teamwork, planning, and thoughtful execution as students use visual communication tools and techniques to explore specific topics and present what they have learned. A standards-based, cross-disciplined curriculum was developed specifically for secondary institutions by experienced educators and technical experts.

Five complete lessons and the equivalent of a fundamental animation course are included:

  • Combines 3D technology and a comprehensive arts-based curriculum to help educators promote animation education and inspire students to explore careers in digital arts, entertainment, and visualization.
  • Provides hands-on curricula, enabling educators to teach technology through a series of conceptual and applied lessons.
  • Helps encourage students to visualize and problem solve through the use of 3D applications, while promoting a broad range of cross-disciplinary topics.
  • Introduces students to the Autodesk 3D toolset using unique, project-based curricula that align to high-demand career paths in games, film, and visual communications.
  • Offers teaching resources for educators and learning resources for students, software for personal use, and discussion forums—all free* and accessible through the Autodesk Education Community. To interact with industry leaders, visit the AREA, the Autodesk digital entertainment and visualization community.

Teaching Resources
Integrate Autodesk technology in your classroom with free* teaching resources and lesson plans from the Autodesk Education Community and the AREA. By joining these communities, educators gain access to a wide range of materials, including curricula, interactive exercises, and modular projects for entertainment and games.

The Animation Academy Curriculum covers the following modules:

  • Design — assists in teaching students about, color, composition, and the ideation process by approaching design fundamentals through the lens of a camera in 3D.
  • Digital Storytelling — explores tools and techniques used by industry artists, animators, and directors to create images and 3D animations that tell a compelling story.
  • Anatomy — teaches how anatomy affects design and what it takes to model a character and bring it to life.
  • Motion and Animation — promotes animation education by examining the basic concepts of force and interaction through the physics of motion.
  • Space and Architecture — explores contemporary architecture, design, and sustainability, challenging students to think about the possibilities for building in the real world as well as a 3D virtual world.
  • Real-time — identifies what makes a great game and how to differentiate the roles of the numerous tools involved in game creation.
